breast-screening

Calastica breast screening education sessions focus on early detection education and are conducted by general practitioners experienced in working in this area. Each session takes 15 minutes and includes:

  • A history of the patient relating to risk factors for breast cancer
  • A demonstration to the participant how to carry out self breast examination (SBE).This includes examination of their breasts standing up and lying down
  • The participant will also be given an opportunity to demonstrate what they have learnt and will be guided if need be (this is optional)
  • A GP referral can be provided if a breast screen is undertaken at the appointment and further investigation is required
